Welcome to the Congregation of the
Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova

"The bond of our Institute is Charity"

                  Ange LeProust, O.S.A. (the Founder)

Father Ange Le Proust, an Augustinian friar, experienced the misery of the poor during his lifetime. He prayed before the Blessed Sacrament. It is there, before Jesus and the Blessed Sacrament, that he received the grace of the interior light which is at the origin of our Congregation. He brought together in mutual charity, a group of young ladies, willing to "Serve Jesus and the Poor." This all started in Lamballe, Brittany France; in the year of grace, our Lord Jesus 1661. Father Ange gave this new group the name of Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova. The Bishop of Valencia, Spain was canonized in 1558 during the lifetime of Father Ange. St. Thomas of Villanova was also known as the "Father of the Poor" as an Augustinian Friar.

In our Apostolic Mission:

"We are to serve the poor with the same spirit that animates us when we are in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

To be of service in the spiritual and corporal needs of the poor.

It is a great virtue to help the poor corporally since Jesus Christ Himself receives these services; however, it is considerably greater virtue to help them gain heaven and acquire eternal bliss.

God has called you to the work that he loves most in the whole world and which His Son embraced with His whole heart.

Indeed…” ready to go to the ends of the earth with only a staff and without money.”

(Father Ange Le Proust, O.S.A.)
